not procrastinating
i have been compiling a list of english words which contain no vowels:
why
my
rhythm
by
fly
sky
fry
nymph
skyth (is this a word?)
however all of them do contain the letter y.
this upsets me.
does anyone know any english words with no vowels or y's?

I reckon "y" still counts as a vowel.
Vowel:
1) A speech sound, created by the relatively free passage of breath through the larynx and oral cavity, usually forming the most prominent and central sound of a syllable.
2) A letter, such as a, e, i, o, u, and sometimes y in the English alphabet, that represents a vowel.
I reckon words like "TV" and "psst" have vowel sounds in them.
But what about "shhh" ?
Ooh, also "cwm"

Adam, I didn't miss "rhythm", I just thought it would be more polite not to mention it. I'm gonna look up syzygy.
Dave, I actually agree with you (weird). But Adam already mentioned "shh"
Natalie, good on you for posting on words etc. You have gone up in my like-o-meter!
my authimage word: ezhqchk. Excellent.
well dave you can't even make a real sound without a vowel, just random pops and hisses. so all words have vowels SOUNDED in them, but i'm thinking about the ones that don't have them in spelling.
yay adam you are awesome at no vowel words!
you are definitly on my list :)
yea, rhythm was a typo.
michael what is xyzzy?
um....
Hey, I resent that! Take it back, take it back!
No, I want you to take back the implication that "xyzzy has a worse computer than Huggies" is somehow _really_ bad.
Unless you didn't intend that implication. Perhaps if you'd used the word "even". Xyzzy's computer is "even" worse than Huggies' computer.
I just don't see why my computer featured in the description at all if you didn't intend to mock it. Read it again, then tell me if I'm seeing things...
"gypsy"
