[in which natalie is annoyed at tv shows, movies and classic english novels]

why are all the stories sad?
they all make me confused and they all leave you asking more questions and questions.
what happened to the stories that used to be lovely? the ones that you looked forward to reading? the ones that didn't make you want to curl up in bed and forget to come out? stories these days are sad, or lonely, or happy in a way that makes me feel bitter.
i don't remember the last time i heard a good story.

there's just so much sadness everywhere right now. it's difficult to understand why sad things happen. like with israel and hizbollah. that's one really sad story.

Having just seen Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy tonight, I must agree.

Comic books are still good? Except for the ones where the superhero's girlfriend ends up in a refridgerator. Never mind. I think I spelled it wrongly anyways.

Yarrr

Korean romantic comedies. That's what you need. They're romantic. And comedic. And guarantee a happy ending. The guys are handsome, the girls are [surgically-enhanced] beautiful...

nope, the beautiful girls are half the problem.

But it is not true literature unless there is an unhappy ever after. If there is a happy ending then it is nothing more than chic lit.

Life was never particularly happy, it's just you're old enough to realise it now.

there's nothing wrong with a happy ending. but nothing really ends until you die. and you can see that both ways, depending on your outlook.

Over the Hedge! go see it!

It doesn't suck like Hoodwinked. It has an engaging story that makes you care about the characters. The animation is top-knotch. I'd rank it up there with Finding Nemo. The soundtrack is by Ben Folds. It has William Shatner voicing an over-acting Opossum. It features a hyperactive squirrel that drinks caffeine. But when he does it's funny. And the whole thing is a clever critique of suburban life.
etc...

I'm sure I made a post here about how life is happy because we have kittens and Fi and Snakes on a Plane, but apparently it didn't turn up. Weird.

I'm not quite sure what this infinite cat project is. Can anyone explain. I'm also a bit confused by this sudden influx of celebrities. I think I need more sleep. Or perhaps more chocolate. But then I remember, chocolate is stupid.

chocolate is stupid, ice-cream is better.

and the cat that flushes the toilet is funny...for a little while anyways.

The infinite cat project:

It started with a picture of a cat.

Then someone took a picture of their cat looking at the picture of the cat on their computer.

Then someone took a picture of their cat looking at the picture of the cat looking at the picture of the cat on their computer.

And so on.

They've got up to over 1300 cats in a row now. That picture I linked above was an example of a submission to the Project that didn't actually have all the other cats in the background, but it was there because the kitty was ridiculously sweet.

The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what Fiction means.
